1. As soon as you reach Kathmandu, exchange your money

This is the first thing that you should do for the Everest Base Camp trek because at the higher elevation, teahouses don’t accept credit cards and dollars. Also, there is no any ATM in Lukla and above places. If you try to exchange at Lukla, the rate is high.

2. Try to go on the edges of the Offseason

October to November is the peak months for Everest Base Camp trek. Every online post suggests you to trek during these months. But, it can be possible during the winter season too. The days remain moderate but the night will be too cold. Also, the teahouses remain empty. No doubt, there will be very less crowd on your trail.

3. Bring your own Guidebooks, maps and food items

Even if you go with the guide, make sure that you have guidebooks because who knows guide may make fault? Also, carry some dry foods like walnut, peanut, energy drinks and fishes on your own. These foods will help you on your trail because the path is difficult enough to make you tired. You will have to walk at least for 4-5 hours per day during the Everest Base Camp trek.

4. Pick an Itinerary with at least 1 or 2 Acclimatization Days

8. Have a good medical kits

9. Book the teahouses earlier

It’s very difficult to find the empty teahouses in the peak season. The numbers of teahouses are less in comparison to the trekkers. So, book them earlier so that you don’t need to spend more time in search of the teahouse.

10. Pick up all your Trash

The trashes on the trail are gradually degrading the environment around the Everest region. There are trashcans along the trail at every rest stop so just keep your trash in your bag pack until you can throw it away in a designated area.
